The National Aquarium in Baltimore
This is a 'must see' for all visitors to Baltimore! The Aquarium is fun and educational. You're visit starts before you even get inside where you can see it's unique architecture from across the world famous Inner Harbour'. The greenhouse pyramid on top holds the Amazon Rain Forest exhibit. The round area towards the back has the 'ring tanks' and the building behind houses the dolphin show. Next to the Aquarium, parked in the harbour, are the U.S.S. Torsk, a WWII Sub that is now a museum, and the Chesapeake floating Maritime Museum.
But the real fun starts around the next corner where you'll get your first glimpse at the sharks and rays. Next up through several levels of themed tanks showing atlantic coastal fishes, pacific reef fishes, deep sea fishes plus examples of camaflague, mimickery, symbiosis and even electrical generation. You'll top out in the rain forest and then begin your decent through the Ring tanks. The top ring is filled with beautiful and exotic reef fishes which you view from the center of the ring so that the show is literally all around you. But don't waste too much time, The bottom ring is a much better view of the sharks. In addition, there's a dolphin show, exibits of frogs snakes, birds and other rain forest lifeand special exhbits like "Seahorses", and "Jellies".
