Baltimore Native and documentary film maker, Richard Chisolm has won several Emmy's and Peabody Awards. His work has been seen on PBS, National Geographic, HBO, ABC, NBC and BBC. A 1982 graduatate of University of Maryland Baltimore County, many of his films deal with life in and around Baltimore.
Michael Gordon
Born in Baltimore as Irving Kunin Gordon, Michael directed 23 films from 1942-1970 even though there was an 8 year gap in his career when he was blacklisted during the McCarthy era. His first film after the involuntary hiatus was the very successful 'Pillow Talk'. His grandson is actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
John Waters

Don Dohler
Wrote 10 and directed 7 films from 1979-2007 Mr. Dohler was born, raised, lived most of his life and did most of his work in the Baltimore area. He also spent time writing, producing and editing several community newspapers and small-press magazines.
Barry Levinson
Baltimore born and raised. A well known director, Barry also has his own production company, 'Baltimore Pictures', which has produced 6 major motion pictures including "Quiz Show" in which Barry played the role of 'Dave Garroway'. Barry directed and wrote three critical acclaimed films whose stories take place in Baltimore. They are 'Diner', for which he was nominated for an Academy Award, 'Tin Men' and 'Avalon' for which he was nominated for both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe.
James Young
Born in Baltimore in 1878, James directed 47 mostly silent-era films from 1912-1927, wrote for 16 films and acted in 9. His best know film may be 'The Bells' starring Lionel Barrymore and Boris Karloff.
